Birthday present

Aw, don't you just love this quote? It's from Ship of Fools, one of my sister's favourite movies. Hence, the perfect present for her. It's not done yet as it will be made into a necklace but I couldn't resist not sharing it with you! Handmade gifts are the best, no?

Here are some more things I'm working on, a new line of jewellery as I already told you made with metal and resin. Necklaces, rings and brooches, all one of a kind. Greek readers will recognise the vintage advertisement on the left! I'm really happy about them, I love working with new materials and it's always exciting knowing that each piece is unique and cannot be duplicated.

Soon you'll be able to dwelve even deeper into the mind of moi (lucky you!), in a short Q&A I did for a blog featuring Etsy sellers. I'll let you know when it's up.

Oh, and Wall*E says hi.

Anytime soon

-What you need is a woman as your companion.
-Not a woman. You.

You must watch this video at nowness.com . A beautifully stylized short movie by Jean-Claude Thibaut, called Anytime Soon. I'm a sucker for this type of Hong-Kong atmosphere, so I instantly loved this. It stars actor Shawn Yue and model Cara G and it's dreamy, artistic and so, so pretty.

Set in the Tin Hau temple in Hong Kong (a working shrine, where “incense ash kept dropping onto the clothes,” Thibaut says), the film stars one of the city's rising stars, Shawn Yue, fresh from the set of John Woo’s latest swords-and-daggers epic, Reign of the Assassins. Yue plays a film director suffering from the disjunction between the real world and the universe he constructs for his films, inhabited as it is by impossibly perfect women (typified here by model Cara G).

The mood of Anything Soon was partially inspired by the costumes, which Thibaut sourced from the classic Parisian fashion house Hermès—he describes it all as “a bit Gatsby.” Thibaut works from the premise that wardrobe comes first: “You can’t choose the actors, and then afterward the fashion for them. In fact, you have to do it the opposite way around.” Music comes courtesy of Chinese classical musician Bei Bei and London-based producer Shawn Lee, whose collaborative album Into the Wind was released earlier this year on Ubiquity Records.

Lost no more

Big day today for nerds all over the world. Whether you're a fan or not, Lost has played a huge part in pop culture the last 6 years, so today holds a pretty big significance. I watch Lost so you can count me in the "fans" category, although I admit to bad-mouthing it occasionally.

In the Lost journey there have been many disappointments, flaws, things-thrown-at-screen moments, and sometimes sheer frustration. Mainly involving Jack.
But of course there are also laughs, tears, suspense, and mind-blowing, mouth-gaping moments. Mainly involving Desmond. And my eternal love, Locke.

Truth is, I'm very excited for tonight's finale but I'm keeping my expectations low. I'm afraid there's gonna be some disappointment (Lost fans are pretty hardcore) but let's hope the writers can provide a satisfactory ending to the saga. My prediction? Locke/Smokey kills them all (he saves Jack for last) and emerges victorious. Ben is spared (I like him). Oh, and Desmond gets back with Penny. Somehow.

I'm watching the finale tomorrow night, I'll try my hardest to avoid any spoilers until then. The internet better keep their mouth shut!

I'll be back later this week with a sneak peek of a new jewellery line, hope you'll like it!

Sugarwave bazaar

I'm taking part in the Sugarwave bazaar, today and tomorrow. So, now you know where to find me. I hope I'll see some of you there!

In other news, it's so hot here I can barely function. Not a big fan of summer, at least summer in Athens so I'm kinda suffering. I use this as an excuse to eat ice cream. Pretty smart, right?

And I also have a tumblr now. Because apparently having a blog, flickr, facebook and twitter wasn't enough.

See you soon!

Going Gaga

Oh, Lady Gaga. Everyone and their mother knows her. Do you love her or hate her? I really don't have any strong feelings for or against her but please if somebody could tell me how to get Bad Romance out of my head I'd be eternally grateful. Seriously, this song redefines "catchy". I'm thinking secret mind experiments and subliminal messages are involved.

Ra ra ra ah ah ah.... what was I saying? Oh yes. Fashion plays a huge part in the Gaga universe, especially avant-garde, so-over-the-top-you-can't-even-see-the-top fashion. I'm a fan of this kind of fashion so I have to present to you my newest finds. Behold, the Telephone Bag.

It's a bag. And a telephone. Red patent purse, plus an actual telephone. Did I just blow your mind? You're welcome.

This baby is vintage from the 1970s, in excellent condition. The price tag may be a little steep ($400), but come on, talk about unique. Its not a telephone-shaped bag. It doesn't have the drawing of a telephone on it. It's a bag and a working telephone all rolled into one. You know you want it, and you can find it at misskittylitter .

And if you love Gaga, but you kinda want to be a little bit more discreet about it, I've also got you covered. Behold, the Gaga Brooch.

You have to admit it, it's pretty cute, plus a really accurate portrait! Mmm, I might just get that one for myself. Only $10 at oliviaew .

And if you made it this far, don't forget to enter my giveaway. Still a few days left!
