Size matters

Sales don't start here until Thursday but many stores have already lowered their prices, trying hard to lure customers. I can't speak for others, but their devious marketing strategies worked like a charm on me, and after a trip to the shops the other day I got home with two new pairs of shoes.

Plastic red ballet flats. Dirt cheap and adorable! I have noticed a serious lack in red shoes in my wardrobe, so you can say these were almost necessary.

Floral-pop wedges. They do turn me into a small giant but they're quite comfortable despite the 10cm platform.

To tell you the truth, I also wanted to buy a hat for my holiday. I tried on a lot of them, but apparently, I have a huge head. No kidding, every single one of them was way too small on me. What's going on? I've just managed to come to terms with the fact that my hands are too big so I can't wear bangles, and now this. Does anyone else have this problem or my freakishly big head and I are alone in this? Oh, and there's no correlation between the size of one's head and IQ. Trust me, I googled it.

Luckily, I had my shoes and cupcakes to cheer me up.

Until next time, have a frozen treat.

Blueberries

I'm feeling kinda blue these days, hence blueberries are on my mind. Blueberry sweets and blueberry movies. Watched My Blueberry Nights the other day, a Wong Kar-Wai film from 2007, the man behind one of my favourite all-time movies In the mood for love (if you haven't seen it do yourself a favour and do it).

It was a really sweet and romantic movie, Jude Law as the leading man had something to do with it of course. His character owns a small cafe, collects strangers' keys and makes blueberry pies that noone wants. Until someone does.

And then I made some blueberry mini muffins. They were small, soft and moist with a lovely hint of berry-ness. Luckily a lot of people wanted them, so now they're all gone.

Thus ends my blueberry story and my blue(berry) phase.

The one with the cupcakes

I went for coffee to a friend I haven't seen in a while, so it was cupcake time! I admit I had to make them from a box as I was pressed for time, but they weren't too shabby!

First, I lined the muffin tray.

Next step, make the cake. Mix together the powdery stuff, an egg and 2 tablespoons of water.

Whisk away!

Then, divide the mix equally to each cupcake liner and bake. I only made 9 out of 12 so I filled the empty cups with water in order to bake evenly.

While they were in the oven, I started making the frosting. I was in a green mood.

The cupcakes were ready after 12 minutes. I (messily) spread the icing and scattered sugar flowers and sprinkles on top, my favourite part!

Ta-da!! I realise the process is too simple to document, but I really enjoyed baking and photographing simultaneously. And look, I saved one for you!
