My good luck charm

I'm nursing a cold these days, so you can guess I'm feeling pretty miserable, hence the lack of posts. However, despite being in this pathetic state, Tatty Devine still managed to cheer me up! My lovely, lovely horseshoe ring came this morning and I haven't taken it off since. Isn't it the cutest? Hope it brings me luck and helps me get rid of this stupid cold. But maybe I'm asking too much from a piece of jewellery.

Off to sneeze.

Let's go to the mall

Sales are a dangerous and sneaky thing. You're browsing online, checking twitter and blogs when you find yourself over at the sale section of Asos, Tatty Devine and Topshop, lusting over things you can actually afford. How did that happen?

Size matters

Sales don't start here until Thursday but many stores have already lowered their prices, trying hard to lure customers. I can't speak for others, but their devious marketing strategies worked like a charm on me, and after a trip to the shops the other day I got home with two new pairs of shoes.


Plastic red ballet flats. Dirt cheap and adorable! I have noticed a serious lack in red shoes in my wardrobe, so you can say these were almost necessary.

Floral-pop wedges. They do turn me into a small giant but they're quite comfortable despite the 10cm platform.

To tell you the truth, I also wanted to buy a hat for my holiday. I tried on a lot of them, but apparently, I have a huge head. No kidding, every single one of them was way too small on me. What's going on? I've just managed to come to terms with the fact that my hands are too big so I can't wear bangles, and now this. Does anyone else have this problem or my freakishly big head and I are alone in this? Oh, and there's no correlation between the size of one's head and IQ. Trust me, I googled it.

Luckily, I had my shoes and cupcakes to cheer me up.

Mint and coconut

Sunday afternoons are best spent outdoors, so yesterday we visited a lovely bazaar held in a back yard filled with vintage and handmade treasures. There were beautiful dresses, jewellery, accessories and shoes, sadly too small for me! But, it was a lovely day and the bazaar was fun, albeit small and crowded. Luckily, there were fresh mojitos which helped a lot with the heat!

Pop

It's a bit of a shocker considering I don't really like summers, but I actually kinda like this one, it's slow and lazy. Plus, we had a few cool, rainy days which are always welcome. Last summer was quite surreal and frankly a bit of an emotional rollercoaster although I didn't discuss it here, so I'm looking forward to silly fun and relaxed time. Days are spent shopping, reading, watching tv and movies and planning holidays.

Speaking of shopping, I picked up these thingies above the other day. Colourful and affordable, they cheered me up instantly! I really love the colour of the nail polish, I'm planning to paint my nails soon and I remembered Alecca Rox's post about the Lip Smackers so I had to get one of those as well! Watermelon flavoured, it's summer in a tube.

Ok, and now it's suggestion time: Do yourself a favour this summer and watch Misfits. It's British tv at its best. Let me sell it to you: A group of five young offenders doing community service (pictured above) get caught up in a freak storm and start to develop superpowers. It's way better than it sounds, and please don't compare it to the crap-fest that was Heroes. It's witty, funny, suspenceful, sexy and racy. It does contain strong language, a bit of gore and sex but hey, that's Europe for you. The first season is only 6 episodes long and I urge you to check it out, it will get you hooked from the start.

And, a book recommendation while I'm at it. Just finished Stephen King's Cell, and it's a perfect summer read, if you're into zombies in a post-apocalyptic wold that is. Imagine a message transmitted through your phone that turns each and everyone who hears it into a mindless zombie. There are of course those who don't own a cell phone so it's them against the zombies. As above, I don't need to tell you that there is lots of gore and blood and all that jazz, I mean it is a Stephen King novel. It's fun and easy to read and if you like this kind of stuff you'll thoroughly enjoy it. So, watch Misfits and read Cell. What's a summer without zombies and delinquent superheroes?



And a feet shot for the end. I currently live in these flats which you may remember from this post. So comfy and perfect for when you're a pedicure short for sandal-ready feet. *cough*

Something new

Not the best week for me, so some shopping was done to lift my spirits. I'm glad this week is over and we're off to a new one although I still can't believe winter is over and spring is here. I want more winter, we only got like 2 weeks of cold! I'm not ready for sunshine just yet. Anyway, let's move on to the good part, the shopping that is.

Sunday, Sunday

The weather was cool and sunny this Sunday, so it was time for a walk! More specifically, the open air market that's being held every Sunday, filled with vintage china, old clothes and lots more! I really love this kind of markets, I always have so much fun searching for treasures among the junk, and of course taking pictures.

A day out

The plan was to spend a few nice hours walking around downtown, visiting jewellery designer Maria Mastori's bazaar, having coffee and doing what girls do. And I'm happy to say it all went according to plan! (yup, sorry no twists here).

I really liked the old lift of the building although I was kinda nervous at first, but it was a smooth ride after all.

This is what I bought! Squee!!!! It's a ring in case it's not obvious. So extravagant and over the top, I love it.

I actually promised not to post any more cappuccino photos here, but the coffee girl was nice enough to make me a cinnamon Christmas tree!

Stelios Parliaros' pastry shop is made out of sugar, cream and chocolate. He's the most popular Greek pastry chef, and I swear could spend loads of money in his shop, I wanted it all! As you can see, the window was amazing, there were choux everywhere! I was so overwhelmed by the products I couldn't decide what to get, so I only got the yummy chocolate and pistachio biscuits. I'm going back for sure!

Lastly, a couple of outfit details. Thick scarf with a flower brooch (gift from mum) and a vintage belt-like ring, one of my favourites.

I'm ashamed to say I still haven't started my Chrismas shopping! I'd better get to it... How about you? Are you done or not started yet?

Essen und einkaufen

Of course, I couldn't go to Berlin and not take a photo of currywurst, street food consisting of a delicious sausage with lots of tomato sauce and curry. It was soooo good! Perfect food for a cold day.

I think it's quite safe to say that I could happily eat pretzels every day for the rest of my life. I think they're just scrumptious. Add to that a chilled prosecco to wash it down and I'm a happy girl.

Lovely desserts and coffee (again) at Hackescher Markt.

I actually didn't do a lot of shopping, but these are my favourite things I got. A tote bag and a scarf with the greatest illustrations. I was intrigued, so I did some research (ok, I googled them) and found their site and here's their bio from their Facebook fan page: We are a collective of six designers and artists who live in Halle and Berlin. We work and create within the sub-cultural areas of street art, urban art and postgraffiti. KLUB7 was founded in 1998. Since then, we have been realizing various wall and interior design projects. This is a vintage, military-style pin, a lovely scarf and a pair of vintage black and white gloves. Love the swirls!

Jewellery, books and broken vows

It's been quite a long time since I last posted here. Stupid life got in the way. I shouldn't complain though, September is my birthday month! Pictured above is one of my birthday gifts, a lovely handmade brooch. Isn't it adorable?


I also got the Hummingbird Bakery cookbook which I ADORE! It's filled with amazing recipes for cakes, pies, cupcakes, muffins and cookies and the most drool-worthy pictures! I seriously cannot wait to make them! You can see for yourself...

And finally, some other books. I swore I wouldn't buy any more books since I already have lots unread but I went to return a present in the bookstore and couldn't help myself. New vow: No more books until I've read at least 5 of the ones I have.

Right now I'm reading Neil Gaiman's Stardust which is such a charming story. I love the little blurb the writer wrote on the first page of the book.

Neil Gaiman is a messy-haired white male author trapped in the body of an identical white male author with perhaps even less-tidy hair. His books and comics have won many awards. He thanks you for your offer of a comb but does not believe it would do any good. Despite being English, he lives more in America than he does anywhere else in the world, and is currently somewhere in his mid-forties. He wrote this book especially for you.

London shopping

You don't need me to tell you that London is shopping heaven. I could spend my lifetime savings in a week there! We did spend quite a lot, here's some of my favourite purchases.

Who can resist DVD and book sales? I managed to control myself though, as I have a bunch of unread books and unwatched dvds already. I think I did quite well...

I loved this trenchcoat the minute I saw it! Sooooo cute in person and less than 10 pounds!

Lovely baroque tote from the V&A museum, purses from Primark, leather bag, slouchy beanie and scarf from Urban Outfitters.

Various bits and pieces. Sunglasses, nail polishes, lip balms... I love all the colours!

Shoes make everything better

So, here are the shoes I got yesterday. I had a fun day, making stops for coffee and dessert and after lots of window shopping I finally came home with these sweeties. Love them, they're comfy and cute enough to get me out of my Havaianas.

Now I'm only one pedicure away from showing them off!

Sweet treats

National Donut Day was June 8, hope you excuse the delay. Wanting to treat myself yesterday, I got these yummy donuts (chocolate filled on the left, plain glazed on the right) and iced coffee from a local coffee shop. They made for a nice afternoon treat.

I'm going shopping today for shoes, I really want some new sandals. Hopefully there'll be something good in the stores. Wish me luck!

Pile of books

These are some books I bought recently. I have a huge "to read" list, but can't seem to stop getting more!

David Sedaris is an all-time favourite of mine, I've read many of his books and they are so funny, sincere, entertaining, touching. I've also been lucky enough to meet him in a book signing last year, he was so sweet and approachable, it made me love him even more! His sister, Amy Sedaris, is one talented lady too, her book I Like You: Hospitality Under The Influence is brilliant.

A little bit of shopping

I went to buy some gifts at the shops yesterday, and decided to treat myself as well. I got the May issue of Wired, guest edited by J.J. Abrams. I'm a huge fan of Abrams, and this issue is so cool! There's a puzzle hidden in the issue, it's full of codes, clues and tricks. I won't pretend to try and solve it though, I'm already looking for the solution online!

You can also see a pair of tiny plane earrings in the picture. Another treat for me, from Accessorize.

All in all, a pretty good day.
